As I couldn’t find much that I wanted to put on here for this update, here are a few of the pictures that I’ve been taking recently.
So this is the first post on the new server! That’s exciting, I guess. ;-)
I changed my webhost from cookiehost to dreamhost for cheap-plan-expired-and-new-one-by-same-host-couldn’t-be-found reasons. :P I don’t really have high expectations for dreamhost, but they somehow advertise the plan as having unlimited storage. I don’t know if there is fineprint for people like me, but that sounds like a good place to backup everything on my computer. This would be really slow at home, but one upside of college internet is that they have a good connection, lots of people downloading usually, but not many people uploading things at once, which means upload speeds of around 1.2MB/s, which is pretty stinking good in my book. =)
Enough geek talk. What I just said was that I changed the location of where jonyoder.com is hosted, and then other things are happening too. ;-) As you may have noticed, the blog is working, but the gallery and never-visited camp forums are still not working. I’ll fix them sometime. :)
Here is my first picture that I drew using a wacam tablet. It’s definitely a different way of drawling, and some things are weird, but it was definitely a fun adventure. If nothing else, it motivated me to make a really ridiculous picture. :-)
Also, Happy Valentine’s day! If nothing else, tell your mom how great she is. I know I will! =)
Great comic, yet bad excuse for an entry. This week was a bit busy. Some crazy stuff happened the past few days, and God is so good. It was pretty awesome seeing prayers being answered right in front of my eyes.
One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upno the beauty of the Lord and to see him in his temple. (Psalm 27:4)
Keep trusting in God: He will direct your paths and keep surprising you. =)
Here’s what I was working on:
I know there are a decent amount of quirks that I couldn’t totally iron out, but as it being my first real project, I think it turned out pretty neat.
From the description I added on vimeo and youtube:
Messing around with a slideshow-type effect in After Effects. I just did a really rough pen mask (then feathered) in Photoshop, imported each 3-layer file into After Effects, and then went from there. All this took me a ridiculous amount of time to get to my liking (mostly), but I definitely learned a lot through the process. I would just never do it for a slideshow unless I was paid by the hour. :) Also, I wish Think Different” wasn’t an Apple slogan. I don’t mind the company (I like their products), but I chose to avoid that phrase in the video for moral reasons. ;)
I’ve decided to set another website goal for myself for 2009. I will try (and hold myself to) posting at least once a week for this entire year. It’s something that I’ve never done: my past xanga blog has been just like this one–updated spuratically. But, it’s a feat that I am willing to undertake.
I thought about setting the goal a little higher, such as me having to add a picture that I took to each post, but for now, I’m going to start off small. Wish me luck! =)
This is the first real use for my cheap ebay remote. I don’t think it will be that useful for much more than self portraits and group shots that include myself, but I still think it’s a cool gadget to have.
This was a 2″ exposure, so I had to stay really still for the picture to be sharp. It’s a bit overexposed, but I like how it turned out.
Happy New Year to all! Yet again I seem to never get around to updating this. I always find something to be enthusiastic about, but it seems like updating my website gets put by the wayside too much. However, there’s always time for change.
I’m not really big on New Year’s resolutions, although I have been in the past, but I am big on resolutions in general. I’m constantly resolving to do better than I did the day or the week before. Sometimes the new year can help motivate you to do your certain goal better, but for me I’d rather stick to resolve daily to do my best.
On the topic of getting things done, I really like making lists–mainly to-do lists. I don’t know if they help much, since I’m pretty bad at getting the list done or even looking at the list after I make it, but I think my list-making helps me out in some way or another.
So, I’ll briefly outline what I plan to do better in the future concerning this website known as jonyoder.com. Not sure how much will result from doing this; time itself will be the only storyteller.
Also, Something to keep in mind:
Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.
Whatever you resolve to do, don’t hold back because you can’t do it (but at the same be realistic), but remember that even if you can’t do it by yourself, anything is possible through God. God bless.
These past few days have been pretty crazy for me. God is so good. On a similar note, I rediscovered this song:
Caedmon’s Call – There You Go
Is this the strange feeling
Of you working all to good
‘Cause I am so confused
I don’t even ask for what I should
When I asked for and deserved a stone
You broke and gave your body as bread
And even the stone that dropped down and rolled away
Spoke of the one who bled
There you go working good from my bad
There you go making robes from my rags
There you go melting crowns from my calves
There you go working good of all I have
Till all I have‘s not that bad
When I asked for and deserved a serpent
You gave a net full of fish
And even the serpent that told the lie
When lifted high foretold the gift
For you so loved the unlovable
That you gave the ineffable
That who so believes the unbelievable
Will gain the unattainable
I love how God can work in me and take what I give Him and make it something good. I’m working on giving Him my all so that all of me can shine of Him.
So much is on my mind right now…but I’ll leave it for a later time. I believe that I can do so much good if my strength is from God…and I have some big plans for this coming semester, a higher calling.
There you go working good of all I have
Till all I have’s not that bad
Love you guys.
