New Goal

I’ve decided to set another website goal for myself for 2009.  I will try (and hold myself to) posting at least once a week for this entire year.  It’s something that I’ve never done: my past xanga blog has been just like this one–updated spuratically.  But, it’s a feat that I am willing to undertake.

I thought about setting the goal a little higher, such as me having to add a picture that I took to each post, but for now, I’m going to start off small.  Wish me luck!  =)

This is the first real use for my cheap ebay remote.  I don’t think it will be that useful for much more than self portraits and group shots that include myself, but I still think it’s a cool gadget to have.
This was a 2″ exposure, so I had to stay really still for the picture to be sharp.  It’s a bit overexposed, but I like how it turned out.

So this is the New Year

Happy New Year to all!  Yet again I seem to never get around to updating this.  I always find something to be enthusiastic about, but it seems like updating my website gets put by the wayside too much.  However, there’s always time for change.

I’m not really big on New Year’s resolutions, although I have been in the past, but I am big on resolutions in general.  I’m constantly resolving to do better than I did the day or the week before.  Sometimes the new year can help motivate you to do your certain goal better, but for me I’d rather stick to resolve daily to do my best.

On the topic of getting things done, I really like making lists–mainly to-do lists.  I don’t know if they help much, since I’m pretty bad at getting the list done or even looking at the list after I make it, but I think my list-making helps me out in some way or another.

So, I’ll briefly outline what I plan to do better in the future concerning this website known as jonyoder.com.  Not sure how much will result from doing this; time itself will be the only storyteller.

  • Update blog more often, and change some things
    • I need to make a layout that isn’t so lame and generic.  I might match it with the rest of  the site, but I’m not sure how I want it yet.
    • Add more pictures.  I’m not really talking about a funny comic or odd picture either, but rather pictures that I have taken.   Yep, even though I’m bad at taking pictures on a consistent basis, I still really enjoy photography.
  • Add more content to the site, so that it’s not so dead-like.
    • Slideshows.  I think slideshows are a great method of presenting photographs.  Viewing them outside a slideshow is great, but putting the pictures in slideshows adds a whole new dimension to the pictures.  There is so much that can be done to add personal taste to the pictures with music, transitions, and timing adding more dimension and mood to the pictures.
    • Videos.  In addition to photography, videography is another thing that I have interest in, I just never went anywhere with that interest.  Even if I never get good with video taking skills or cinematography type things, I still want to try to add random funny or historically interesting videos to the site.
  • Finishing the site (real contact page, updated pages, etc.) is also something I should get on someday.  ;)
  • Keeping it real.  Not sure how that will relate to what I need to do with my site, but take that however you want…and do it yourself too.

Also, Something to keep in mind:

Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.

Whatever you resolve to do, don’t hold back because you can’t do it (but at the same be realistic), but remember that even if you can’t do it by yourself, anything is possible through God.  God bless.

God is so good.

These past few days have been pretty crazy for me. God is so good. On a similar note, I rediscovered this song:

Caedmon’s Call – There You Go

Lyrics:
Is this the strange feeling
Of you working all to good
‘Cause I am so confused
I don’t even ask for what I should

When I asked for and deserved a stone
You broke and gave your body as bread
And even the stone that dropped down and rolled away
Spoke of the one who bled

There you go working good from my bad
There you go making robes from my rags
There you go melting crowns from my calves
There you go working good of all I have
Till all I have‘s not that bad

When I asked for and deserved a serpent
You gave a net full of fish
And even the serpent that told the lie
When lifted high foretold the gift

For you so loved the unlovable
That you gave the ineffable
That who so believes the unbelievable
Will gain the unattainable

I love how God can work in me and take what I give Him and make it something good. I’m working on giving Him my all so that all of me can shine of Him.

So much is on my mind right now…but I’ll leave it for a later time. I believe that I can do so much good if my strength is from God…and I have some big plans for this coming semester, a higher calling.

There you go working good of all I have
Till all I have’s not that bad

Love you guys.
