When I get older & formal numero 1

I don’t usually post blog updates solely to show a video that I found unless it is super great. I don’t even like soccer and this video makes me want to play, gives me the shivers, and inspires me (even if only to make videos ;) ). Watch it and weep:

I hope that you liked the video as much as I did.  :)   I probably watched it about five times by now.

A perfect man

Posted: February 10th, 2010 | Author: Jon Yoder | Filed under: Jesus talk, Personal | Tags: , , | 2 Comments »

I just added a new category to the blog called “Jesus Talk.”  It’s basically the category that I’ll put all my spiritual (thoughts, ideas, findings, etc.) in.  This post will be the first one in the category, but hopefully I’ll do this a little more often.  We’ll see.

A perfect man would never act from sense of duty; he’d always want the right thing more than the wrong one. Duty is only a substitute for love (of God and of other people) like a crutch which is a substitute for a leg. Most of us need the crutch at times; but of course it is idiotic to use the crutch when our own legs (our own loves, tastes, habits etc.) can do the journey on their own. (C.S. Lewis)

I don’t always think of the reality of this truth, but it is so true.  I find myself trying to be good so often, and trying to do what’s right, but when I’m doing that, things just don’t work out.  It’s like trying to be a Christian without Christ.  I still struggle with this, and sometimes I can feel good about doing good for a few days, but then soon it will catch up to me, and I just won’t enjoy doing good things or being encouraging to people.

Made this for the Pi Theta Phi Spring Formal that was yesterday night. It was a lot of fun to do, and I think that it turned out really well. I have lots more to say about it, but I’ll save that for later.

Yo-yo from the past

Posted: August 11th, 2008 | Author: Jon Yoder | Filed under: muzing | Tags: , | No Comments »

I found this video today (via) about yo-yo tricks. I know that incredible talent is not hard to find on youtube, but I like this video especially because I used to have a mechanical yo-yo like that. The best I could do was baby in the cradle, where you just make a box with the string and then move the yo-yo through the box a few times. And I thought that was good…

Also, this is pretty epic:

To have a beard

Beard, no Beard.

Pork, beans.

You probably heard the song Pork and Beans by Weezer, but have you seen the video? This was a really cool move of Weezer to do–incorporate youtube ‘stars’ into their song. I don’t know how/if this will translate into more songs, but I really like the idea.

Just in case you didn’t get all the references here are a few of the main ones–Chocolate Rain, Miss Teen South Carolina, Kelly (from the Shoes video), Chris Crocker (Leave Brittany Alone), Diet Coke + Mentos, guy from Evolution of Dance (random–but is it just me, or is this video not that great? I guess it’s just me, since 91 million views says otherwise), Daft Hands, Daft Bodies, Charlie the Unicorn, the Ninja guy (haha, I love how weezer gives this guy a comeback :P ), the Dramatic Look Gopher, Peanut Butter Jelly Time, K-Fed, Lightsaber guys, 155 T-shirts, Numa numa, all your base are belongto us, Sneezing Panda, and GI Joe PSA.

The ones that I didn’t link to contain profanity, so yeah. :P

And hopefully I’ll never have this many links in a blog post again. ;)

Oh baby (pictures)

So I found this hilarious page of baby pictures. The ones with captions probably crack me up the most. ;)

Also, I came across a video of the right way to make bread. May not be appropriate for the female audience…haha.

Have a superb weekend!
