Honduras part dos

March 23rd, 2011 | filed under: photo | tags: , |

Here are a few more of my favorite pictures from the Honduras trip.

Update: Here’s a slideshow of a bunch of people’s photos:

The kids were way too cute.  =)

The boy to the right pointed out that there was a little scorpion crawling on Sam, saving her from much pain and a few doctor visits. What a guy.  =)

We went to a place called the Valley of Angels where there were a bunch of shops. Lots of neat stuff.

(above) View of some homes from the top of a home.  (below, right) View of the home to some, known as the Dump. It was really humbling visiting them and seeing the people there competing with birds for finding food.

Fresh Eyes – Honduras

March 22nd, 2011 | filed under: Personal, photo | tags: , , |

I’m back from the good ol’ Honduras. It’s been an amazing ride this past week and my mind since then has been constantly thinking of Honduras and the people we interacted with.

I have learned so much. Honduras has shown me some things that I’ve never seen before. I’ve been able to see first hand that God’s church goes much further than my small corner of the world. It’s pretty amazing.

I’ve been thinking about this place so much the last few days but I can’t seem to put these thoughts to words. Maybe I’ll come up with more complete thoughts sometime in the future.  :)  In short– God is good.

Here’s a brief synopsis in pictures of the week:

We became quite familiar with this bus by the end of the week.

Building a house for a family.

Oscar explaining the task at hand (painting) to the fearless co-leader Amy.

Painting… (before) / (after)

More painting.  What a great color.  :)

Driving away from the orphanage was incredibly hard. The kids were just amazing.

We did a lot with the students at the Baxter Institute.

What’s cooler than cool?

This group. :)

Spring Break in review

Warning, this post may be boring/slow.  I’m putting it here for documentation purposes and as a support letter/informational for the people that graciously supported me financially.  :)

This year for spring break I went to New Albany, Indiana on a mission trip.  16 of us from Harding drove up there in two big vans.  It was a really great group, which made doing everything so much better.  I’ll recap some of the events that were most significant to me.

Spring Break, come and gone

March 16th, 2010 | filed under: Personal, photo, video project | tags: , |

Here I am again, back at school.  This time, I’m less motivated than ever.  I have a couple websites that I need to make, an art project I need to work on, some homework that’s due in an hour, but right now it’s just so hard for me to do school work.  College is great.  School, not so much.

Spring break was awesome.  I really love our group.  It was fairly diverse, and I got to grow closer to some people that I didn’t know very well before.  It’s kinda neat how being with a small group of people for a week makes them feel a bit like family.  It still is good to be back though, I just need to get back on track.  :)

I’ll have a couple posts about my spring break, but for now–just some more pictures (and a couple videos).

Our great group leaders. :)

The awkward couple...haha.

I was experimenting with video a bit the trip.  Focusing is kinda weird on a DSLR, and the shallow depth of field can work for you or against you.  I don’t really mind most of the previous video being out of focus.  I just call it art.  :P  Also, my brother is pretty crazy.  I’ve been realizing that more and more lately.
