Brooklyn and Jonathan are now indeed married! Both fun loving, adventurous, and in pursuit of the things in life that matter, they’re perfect for each other.
This special day involved so much creativity and thoughtful touches. The party favors were prints from their engagement photos. Brooklyn the graphic designer extraordinaire designed everything from all the different invitations to the wedding schedule. Also, the cakes were all homemade. Also, Brooklyn’s mom made all the dresses. Pretty amazing. :)
Here’s their day!

The guys!

And the girls…

Persevering through thick and thin, storm and drought, injuries, and walking barefoot across sharp rocks and boulders…the girls did it! Hats off.. :)

The jolly crew.

Rocking duet. =)

Partin shot by Ashel, who was kind enough to put up with me for two whole days and take lots of great pictures. =)

Rosie and Jared got married this past weekend! I’ve known both of them for quite some time and have been encouraged through their lives and the examples they’ve set.
It’s amazing how God can unite two people from such different walks of life, different families, different continents. How two people that grew up about 9000 miles apart are now united as one. Here’s the wedding. :)

Jared’s family was great…and hilarious. :)

Travis’ songs and comments were really touching. He rocked it as an MC too. :-)

And they’re off! It was a great wedding, a great group of people, a fun time, and a day to remember.
Thanks to Ashel for helping me out and for being a rocking second shooter. :)

For my first solo wedding, I shot some friends that have been close to me the whole way through college.
The story: I met Trent first through living in the same dorm. We (along with a couple other guys) were hanging out at a freshman orientation (or equivalent) event, and we met Devon and a few other girls there. We all ditched the slideshow video that was going on and went to a coffee house close by. It was a good time; we played some games, talked, and hung out. At the end of the night, we all exchanged phone numbers in a true “hey let’s be friends!” fashion.
I’m sure our little friend group hung out a few more times after that, but a few weeks later, we heard of a 4 hour phone call into the wee hours of the morning. We then knew something was up. Soon enough Trent and Devon were official. The rest is history.
Over the years we’ve had many more good times. We’ve even dabbled in extreme music videos.
And now… they’re married! How cool! :) Devon was incredibly calm before the ceremony which is unheard of and super cool. The whole day was a blast to photograph. This couple is tha bomb. ;)

I’ve had the opportunity to 2nd shoot at a couple weddings this summer. It has been a good chance for me to take all my learning and speculation and test it in the real world. Learning things online from other photographers is great, but nothing beats real world experience. :) It was also neat being a 2nd shooter/assistant, as I didn’t have to worry about getting the “essential” shots, but had more room to experiment.
Here are some of my favorites:
