Once in a [very long time], I update my website. Blogging isn’t too bad, I’m fairly motivated about doing that, but changing the site itself is always a hecktic process to go through. Being your own worst critic means that it’s super hard to decide on anything.
Well, the time has come, and I did a few additions:
(home) Now includes my twitter feed on the right. A good way to fill up the page I guess. ;)
(home) Removed all the different sidebar items (except recent posts). I like them enough to keep them on the blog, but I didn’t think they fit on the home page.
(home) Changed the picture from a random family picture to a collage of thumnails of a bunch of the pictures that I have posted on here.
(blog) Facebook comments are a go. Now you’ll be able to comment on here without having to do long excessive tasks like typing your name or e-mail address before you add a comment. Whether or not it will get any more comments: unlikely. But still, it’s now easier to comment. Just a note.

2119 days ago, in a land far away, lived a very, very sad dragon.
Scratch that.
2119 days ago, in a land not so far away, a person with a name very similar to mine started a blog. Ever since then, he’s been able to express his inner nerd to the non-caring internet audience.
That was me, and that was xanga. Tonight I backed up my old xanga. My first post was on Saturday, January 08, 2005 at 9:11 PM. My last post was on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at 10:46 PM. Over this amount of time, I posted 91 blog posts and received 935 comments. 935 comments! That’s crazy! In the beginning, I probably averaged about 15 comments per post, but towards the end, people commented less and brought the average down to about 10.5 per post.
My new blog has 120 posts and 54 comments. ;) That’s about two really good (maybe borderline spammy) commented blog posts from the olden days.
So, what is one to conclude from these series of statistics?
My cult following has decreased significantly.
I’m becoming less and less cool as the years go by.
I’m losing friends at a fast, rapid rate.
People don’t read blogs anymore.
People don’t comment on blogs anymore. (do we all just skim a lot more nowadays and pretend that we’re busy?)
I used to be popular, maybe.
I’m getting worse in my writing skills as I get older. (I’d like to beg to differ reading some of my old posts, but who am I to do so? the stats speak for themselves. ;))
Or… something else?
Maybe there’s a lesson to be learned here. Popularity is something that I never want to pursue. If I follow the path that God leads me, then it doesn’t matter if I’m a big name guy or an obscure no-name. God’s ways are so much better. Every time.
Thanks everyone for reading! Even if you never comment. ;-)

We seem to be going through a period of nostalgia, and everyone seems to think yesterday was better than today. I don’t think it was, and I would advise you not to wait ten years before admitting today was great. If you’re hung up on nostalgia, pretend today is yesterday and just go out and have one heck of a time. ~Art Buchwald

So, I hope the summer thus far has been grand. Mine has been pretty stellar so far.
One thing that summer may or may not bring is being on the computer less. Facebook less too, maybe. So that brings me to my point that you should subscribe (ie: get e-mail updates). Yep.
If you don’t want to miss out on blog updates, if you like anything you see read on here, if you want to get emails when I post new updates, or if you like Domino’s $4 large pizzas, you should subscribe.
The 2 current subscribers can’t be wrong. Think about it. ;)
Also, this form is always on the sidebar too.

I thought this was super cool. I love visual effects, slow motion, lighting, and high definition, and I also like when all that is combined. :)

Taking a break from the normal routine of posting pictures of what’s been happening lately, this time I write about the fact that this is my 100th post on jonyoder.com. In honor of this being the 100th post, I’ll be doing my best to bore you to death with statistics and more statistics. ;-) I happen to find this kind of thing interesting, and if you happen to as well, then…I don’t even know.

…not really, but this will be the last post of the pictures from the snow day on Monday that I’m gunna post. Life goes on–ya know?
Just a little housekeeping note–I’m going to post the rest of the pictures on a blog post that you can only see if you are registered (and logged in). The reason I’m doing this is because I don’t want to put 100 pictures into one post unless you really want to see them (it looks a bit weird–like the bottom of this post, but 10 times as long). I’m kinda using this blog as a showcase of some of my favorite photos, and if I include too many pictures, that kinda takes away some of the effect.
I don’t know how much sense that makes, and I might decide to do it a different way–such as upload pictures to the gallery or something. I’ll also put some on facebook soon.
Anyways…some pictures.
Not the most successful jumping picture, but I like it.
