Tis the Season
December 27th, 2010 | filed under: Personal, photo | tags: christmas, holidays | Christmas has come and gone! The thing I find greatest about this season is not the trees or the lights or the music, but it’s the feelings that come along with everything. I love being able to jump out of the normal craze of life and seeing that life is bigger than me. I love seeing people genuinely thankful for what they’ve received and what they already have. It’s also pretty nice not having to worry about school for an entire month. Don’t mind one bit. :)
These are a few of my favorite things of late:
- Old family videos are amazing! Sure, sometimes you have to fastforward the part where one person is jumping on the trampoline for 10 minutes, but it’s definitely an enlightening experience. Tidbits I learned or relearned:
- Humor changes over time–that hilarious thing that someone said 12 years ago wasn’t really funny.
- My parents like the way zoomed in head shot of me trying to figure out what to say, doing something awkward, etc.
- Family is priceless. I don’t exactly how my life would be different without growing up around my cousins so much, but I know that I’m better person because of it.
- And the last thing I learned…is that I used to be pretty stinking cute. ;-)
- It’s Wonderful Life doesn’t get old. Still probably my favorite Christmas movie.
- Strawberry cake doesn’t get old. Every year for my birthday (probably since my birth) we have strawberry cake. This year we had my birthday party on Christmas eve. Mmmm.
- Muppets Christmas Caroll is a great movie. From the little snippet that I saw from it a while ago, I thought it looked lame. To add to that, it’s one of my best friends’ favorite movies, and he quotes the whole thing. It had to be terrible. Well, I finally watched it the whole way through…and I like it.
There you have it.
I’ve been working on editing and delivering wedding photos quite a bit lately too. Coming up next is the…Sims wedding. :) Here’s a classic picture back from when I was a champ little league star:

What initially stood out to me in this photo are the names on the wall. There’s me, Zach–my roommate, (a) best friend, and Muppet lover, Heather–don’t know who she is, and Jonathan Sims. Although my memory from my childhood is pretty much a black hole (and I’m blond), it’s really cool to have pictures like this to take me back. :-)
Merry Christmas! Happy new year!
